Bridge

Friday 26 Feb 21 London Bridge

Friday 26 Feb 21

Woke up around 7 and without opening a door drove back to the Burger King. Once there I let the dogs out for a potty break. Inside the store I had a couple cups of coffee and updated my budget.

Back at the RT I secured everything and drove to and over the London Bridge. I parked at a beach parking lot and then walked back to the bridge. I took several photos then walked across the bridge to the north shore of the channel.

I found a visitors center and checked it out. There I learned that Robert McCulloch of the McCulloch Chainsaw Company is the man who bought the London Bridge and had it shipped to Lake Havasu and reassembled. He had previously bought 26 square miles near the lake and started Lake Havasu City. After the bridge was completed he dug a channel under it which separated a piece of land that became an island that was only accessible by the bridge.

The reason the bridge was available for sale is that it was actually sinking there in London. Mr McColloch bought the famous bridge for approximately 2.5 million dollars.

I went back to the RT for lunch. While eating lunch I discovered that last night's guest tested positive for Covid-19. The lady that had booked the reservation was obviously very dishonest and had booked the place so her son could be quarantined there. I had to contact the next three guest and advise them of the situation. 2 of the 3 cancelled which resulted in the loss of approximately $500. I reported the guest as well to Airbnb. Since the outbreak of the Chinese Communist Party Virus Airbnb has been terribly slow in responding.

After taking care of the issue I took the dogs for a long walk down to the channel. At some point I took the dogs back to the RT and went back to the channel and watched the boats go by. There are some amazingly powerful speed boats here in Lake Havasu. One of the only industries in the area is boat manufacturing.

For dinner I went to an outdoor restaurant at the bottom of the north side of the bridge and had fish and chips with a couple of local Full Moon beers. The fish and beer were excellent.

I drove on the north side of town to park for the night.
